18.02.2014

The University of Bremen, a mid-sized university with approximately 250 professorships and 19,000 students, offers a broad range of disciplines and competes internationally in top-level research. With its ambitious institutional strategy the university was successful in the  national Excellence Initiative as one of only eleven universities in Germany.

Early career postdoctoral researchers are invited to apply for a temporary position for up to two years. Fellows will be enabled to develop an independent research project and to write an application for subsequent third-party funding.

Advanced postdoctoral researchers are offered positions for up to four years to conduct independent research. With only a minimum of teaching requirements, these positions allow to carry out ambitious research projects.

International / European postdoctoral researchers / non-german residents are encouraged to apply for a two year BREMEN TRAC fellowship in the COFUND scheme. Applicants should have already excelled in their research field.

All Fellows can decide freely on their research topic, but should demonstrate that their project fruitfully links up with a research area at the University of Bremen. Fellows will be hosted by a cooperation partner, i.e. an institute of the University of Bremen that will be the prime cooperation partner of these independent postdoc researchers.

Postdoctoral fellows will receive a competitive salary and a generous budget for costs directly incurred by the project. The University offers an academic environment which ensures that fellows enjoy extensive support. The University of Bremen is an equal-opportunity employer. Thus, at least half of the positions will be awarded to women.

Applications from female candidates, international applications and applications of academics with a migration background are explicitly welcome. Disabled persons with the same professional and personal qualifications will be given preference.
